Why the Clio 5 in Casablanca

The smallest premium hatchback you can park anywhere in this city.

Casablanca parking is a contact sport. On-street spots in Maarif and Gauthier are squeezed between cars like a Tetris game, and hotel garages in central districts often have spaces sized for 1990s sedans. The Clio 5 is 4.05m long — about 30 cm shorter than the Logan, and significantly narrower. That gap is the difference between sliding into a spot and circling the block for ten minutes.

Add automatic transmission and you get a car that's effortless in stop-start traffic — no clutch foot, no gear shifting in the bumper-to-bumper crawl on Boulevard Mohamed V at lunch hour. For couples, business solo travelers, or anyone whose trip is "Casablanca-only" or "Casablanca + a day trip," this is the most stress-free option in the fleet.

The Clio 5 we run is the latest-generation automatic — modern interior, full digital cluster, Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, AC, reverse parking sensors. Five seats technically (three in the back is tight for adults), three carry-on suitcases or two checked bags + a soft duffel. Fuel-efficient enough that a week of city use rarely needs a fill-up.

Common questions

Clio 5 + Casablanca, asked.

Is the Clio 5 big enough for two suitcases and a carry-on?
Yes. The boot fits two standard checked bags (typical 25kg suitcases) plus a small carry-on or backpack. If you've got more — three large suitcases or sports gear — the Duster Automatic or Hyundai Tucson is the better choice.
How does it handle the highway from Casablanca to Marrakech?
Comfortably. The Clio 5 is rated for 110-120 km/h cruising and the engine is modern enough to handle it without strain. The 240km Casa → Marrakech run takes about 2h 30min on the A7. Just remember tolls (~80 MAD each way) and gas at any A7 service station.
Is automatic worth it over a manual hatchback?
In Casablanca traffic, absolutely. You'll spend significant time in stop-start conditions — Boulevard Zerktouni at rush hour, Anfa Place mall on weekends, the lights along Hassan II Mosque road. Automatic removes the constant clutch-and-gear cycle. Most people who try automatic in Casa never go back.
Can I park it overnight on the street safely?
In any neighborhood with a "gardien" (parking attendant in a yellow vest) — yes. Tip 10-20 MAD for overnight watching. In areas without a visible gardien, use a hotel garage or a paid lot like Anfa Place. We don't recommend leaving any rental unattended on a quiet side street overnight.
Does the Clio 5 come with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto?
Yes — current-gen Clio 5 has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto built in. Plug your phone, mirror your maps, route to wherever. The car also has a 7" touchscreen with Renault's native navigation if you'd rather not use your phone.
