Full Insurance and zero-deposit car rental are closely connected, but they are not the same thing. At CarsRental.ma, Full Insurance is an additional policy purchased from an insurance company. On selected vehicles it can reduce both the security deposit and the accident franchise to €0. On high-value vehicles, it still provides broader protection but a reduced franchise remains.
With an eligible zero-deposit vehicle, no cash is collected and no amount is blocked or pre-authorized on your card. Full Insurance covers the insured risks, but every accident must follow the correct reporting procedure and the policy exclusions still apply. You can see the current list of cars available with a €0 deposit here.
Deposit, franchise and Full Insurance are three different things
Most confusion begins when these terms are used as though they mean the same thing. They do not. Understanding the difference makes it much easier to compare rental offers and know what you are accepting before the keys are handed over.
Money collected or blocked temporarily as financial security. A true €0-deposit rental means no cash and no card pre-authorization.
The part of an insured loss that may remain payable by the renter. The amount depends on the vehicle and protection selected.
An additional insurance policy that expands protection and can eliminate or greatly reduce the franchise and deposit.
It means CarsRental does not block money before you drive away. It does not cover prohibited use, an unauthorized driver, damage without the required report or anything else excluded by the insurance and rental agreement.

How Full Insurance creates a zero-deposit rental
The process is more straightforward than many travelers expect. You are not borrowing an uninsured vehicle and CarsRental is not simply deciding to ignore the risk. Additional coverage is purchased from the insurer for the rental, and the level of deposit reduction depends on the vehicle.
Economy, compact and family cars are more likely to qualify for a complete €0 deposit. High-value vehicles usually retain a reduced franchise.
The additional coverage and any remaining franchise are shown for the specific vehicle, so the customer knows the exact position before signing.
Every person who may drive must be authorized in the rental agreement and meet the required licence conditions.
For a genuine zero-deposit booking, CarsRental collects no security deposit and places no pre-authorization on the customer's card.
Contact CarsRental immediately and obtain the assessor or police report required for that incident. This documentation is what allows the insurer to process the claim.
On expensive premium and luxury vehicles, Full Insurance still improves the protection substantially, but the insurer may leave a residual franchise because repair costs and vehicle values are much higher. Consequently, a Range Rover, Porsche or comparable luxury vehicle may be offered with a reduced deposit rather than €0.
What Full Insurance covers
Full Insurance is the strongest standard protection offered for the rental vehicle. The exact claim must still be documented and accepted under the insurer's procedure. It is better understood as broad, conditional protection—not an unlimited promise that every type of damage will be paid automatically.
| Event or service | Full Insurance | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Collision and accident damage | ✓ Covered | Police or insurer-assessor report, depending on the accident. |
| Glass breakage | ✓ Covered | The incident must be reported through the required procedure. |
| Theft or attempted theft | ✓ Covered | Official reporting and cooperation with the claim process are required. |
| Fire | ✓ Covered | The event must be officially documented. |
| Roadside assistance and towing | ✓ Included | Available for an accident, breakdown or covered vehicle problem. |
| Replacement vehicle after a breakdown | ✓ Included | Subject to availability and may be from a different category. |
| Scratch caused by a documented accident | ✓ Covered | The scratch must form part of the officially reported accident. |
| Wheel damage or an undocumented small scratch | Optional add-on | Requires Wheels and Minor Damage Protection. |
Morocco's insurance regulator, ACAPS, also distinguishes between guarantees such as collision, fire, theft and glass. That is why a responsible rental explanation should identify the protection included rather than using “fully covered” as an undefined marketing phrase. You can read the regulator's general automobile-insurance overview for background.

Insurance-assessor report or police report: which one do you need?
Under the claim process used for CarsRental vehicles, you do not automatically need both reports. The correct document depends on whether the accident caused only vehicle damage or whether a person was injured.
When nobody is injured and the damage concerns vehicles or other property, the insurer's assessor or authorized representative records the accident. This report is used to open the claim.
If anyone is injured or requires medical care, the police must attend and prepare the official report. The insurer-assessor report alone is not sufficient in that situation.
A damaged car, a photo or a verbal explanation is not enough to activate the insurance. Without the required official report, the insurer may reject the claim even when Full Insurance was purchased.
What to do immediately after an accident
- Stop safely and check everyone involved. If anyone is injured or needs medical help, contact the emergency services and police immediately.
- Contact CarsRental before making private arrangements. We will identify the correct reporting procedure and coordinate with the insurer.
- Photograph the scene and visible damage. Include the vehicles, registration plates, road position and surrounding area when it is safe to do so.
- Wait for the appropriate authority. This will be the insurance assessor for vehicle-only damage or the police when someone is injured.
- Read the report before signing and send CarsRental a clear copy. We then submit and follow the claim with the insurance company.

What roadside assistance and replacement-car support include
Full Insurance is not limited to paying for accident repairs. It also includes roadside assistance when the car breaks down or develops a covered problem. CarsRental coordinates the assistance so the customer is not left to search for a tow truck or workshop alone.

Assistance, towing and a replacement when available
If the vehicle cannot continue safely, roadside recovery or towing is arranged. When a replacement car is required, one will be provided according to availability.
The replacement may not be the same model or category, especially during high season or outside the main cities. The immediate priority is to keep the customer mobile safely.
Roadside assistance does not turn an excluded action into an insured claim. Problems caused by prohibited terrain, an unauthorized driver, wrong fuel or another excluded use remain outside the insurance even if a tow truck is physically needed.
How wheels and small scratches can be protected
This is the distinction most customers miss. A body scratch caused during a properly documented collision is part of the insured accident and can be covered by Full Insurance. A small mark caused by touching a pavement, wall or pole—without an accident report—is normally outside the standard Full Insurance plan.
Customers who want broader protection can add Wheels and Minor Damage Protection. This optional insurance extension covers wheel damage and small scratches, including marks caused by a pavement, roadside edge, wall or parking pole.

Covered when the scratch is part of an accident recorded by the insurer's assessor or police.
Covers eligible wheel damage and minor scratches caused by pavements, poles, walls and similar low-speed contact.
Unpaved roads can be covered; sand dunes and valleys are prohibited
“Off-road” can describe very different conditions in Morocco. An ordinary rural or unpaved road used to reach a village, riad or destination is not the same as deliberately driving over sand dunes, into a valley or across terrain that is not a normal road.
If an accident happens on an ordinary unpaved route and the incident is officially documented, the claim can be covered. Driving on sand dunes, in valleys, through riverbeds or across terrain where normal cars are prohibited is not authorized and is excluded from the insurance.
Exclusions that apply to every insurance option
- An unauthorized driver who is not named in the rental agreement.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Reckless driving, racing or serious speeding contrary to the rental conditions and road rules.
- Lost or damaged keys and the cost of replacement or reprogramming.
- Wrong fuel and resulting mechanical damage.
- Interior damage, including burns, misuse or avoidable damage inside the vehicle.
- Undercarriage damage caused by misuse or unsuitable terrain.
- Driving on prohibited terrain, including sand dunes, valleys and routes that are not intended for normal vehicles.
- Damage without the required official report when the insurer needs that report to validate the claim.
Traffic fines, missing fuel, late-return charges and other obligations under the rental contract are also separate from accident insurance. A zero-deposit booking should never be interpreted as permission to ignore the signed rental conditions.
Four examples that make the protection clearer
No cash is collected and no amount is blocked. If a covered vehicle-only collision occurs, the insurer's assessor records it and the claim is handled under the zero-franchise protection, subject to the policy conditions.
Full Insurance broadens the protection and sharply reduces the deposit, but a residual amount remains because the insurer will not eliminate the full franchise on that high-value vehicle.
Standard Full Insurance does not cover that isolated wheel and minor scratch damage. It is covered when the customer selected the optional Wheels and Minor Damage Protection.
CarsRental coordinates roadside assistance and towing. A replacement vehicle is provided when available, although it may be from a different category.
Which CarsRental vehicles are available with no deposit?
Eligibility depends on the car, not simply on whether the customer asks for Full Insurance. Selected economy, compact, sedan and family vehicles can reach a genuine €0 deposit. More expensive premium and luxury cars usually retain a smaller deposit and franchise.
The dedicated no-deposit guide contains the current vehicle table, protection prices and remaining deposits for premium models. We keep that information on one page so customers do not find conflicting prices in different articles.

Frequently asked questions
Is a zero-deposit rental really €0?
Yes, on an eligible CarsRental vehicle. No cash is collected and no amount is blocked or pre-authorized on the customer's card. Luxury and other high-value vehicles may have only a reduced deposit, so check the exact car before booking.
Does Full Insurance mean every possible damage is covered?
No. It covers the insured events, including eligible accident damage, glass breakage, theft, fire and roadside assistance, but the reporting requirements and exclusions still apply.
Do I need both a police report and an insurance-assessor report?
Not automatically. For vehicle-only damage with no injured person, the insurer's assessor report is used. If anyone is injured or needs medical attention, a police report is mandatory.
Are scratches covered by Full Insurance?
A scratch that forms part of a properly documented accident can be covered. An isolated small scratch caused by a pavement, wall or pole without an accident report requires the optional Wheels and Minor Damage Protection.
Are tyres, wheels and rims covered?
They are not included in the standard Full Insurance plan. Eligible wheel damage can be covered by selecting Wheels and Minor Damage Protection.
Why do luxury cars still require a deposit?
Their repair costs and insured values are significantly higher. Full Insurance reduces the franchise substantially, but the insurer may not eliminate it completely, so a residual deposit remains.
What happens if the rental car breaks down?
Contact CarsRental immediately. Roadside assistance and towing are coordinated, and a replacement car is provided when available. The replacement may be from a different category.
Can I drive on rural or unpaved roads?
An ordinary rural or unpaved route can be covered when an accident is officially documented. Driving on sand dunes, in valleys, through riverbeds or on terrain not intended for normal cars is prohibited and excluded.
Can another person drive the car?
Only if that person is authorized and named in the rental agreement. Damage caused while an unauthorized person is driving is excluded from every insurance option.
Where can I compare the eligible vehicles and deposits?
Use our current no-deposit car rental guide. It contains the dedicated table of eligible cars and the reduced deposits that remain on premium models.
